When it comes to travel, everyone is going to have their own personal preference on what they like to do, where they like to go, and how they spend their time. But if there’s one thing that just about anyone who loves to travel has in common, it’s definitely a soft spot for island life. No matter what kind of countries you love to visit, or what you do when you’re there, when you think about heading off to an island and just enjoying the seclusion, the luxury, and the incredible natural assets, it’s pretty much everyone’s idea of heaven. So, if you find your wanderlust fueled by island life lately, here are five island spots that are sure to inspire!
Galapagos Islands
Now, before you say it, let us say it for you! What are the Galapagos Islands? you ask – well, you’re going to love them, that’s for sure. Often referred to as the Enchanted Isles, Archipelago, Galapagos Island or simply, Galapago, the Galapagos are Pacific Ocean islands and actually part of Ecuador. You’ll find the collection of 19 islands around 1,000km from South America. If you want an island destination that’s magical, striking, and largely unspoiled with great diving and unusual wildlife, then the Galapagos are perfect for you.
Ko Phi Phi, Phi Phi Islands
Found between the island of Phuket and the Strait of Malacca coast off of the mainland, the Phi Phi Islands are an idyllic group of islands in Thailand. The main island, Ko Phi Phi Don is a dream. Most notable for its white sandy beaches and striking panoramic sea views, Ko Phi Phi Don is a party island, epitomizing good times and a vacation lifestyle. Relax, soak up the sun, or head out for a dive and your time spent here will be divine.
Iles des Saintes
Also referred to as Les Saintes, the Îles des Saintes are islands of Guadeloupe. This French territory found in the Caribbean also has given the collection of islands its affectionate name of the French Caribbean. The main island is Terre-de-Haut. You’ll adore it here for the Pain de Sucre beach and its coral waters, along with the picture-perfect Les Saintes Bay, lined with palm trees. With views and history in abundance, what more could you want from island life?
Rangiroa, French Polynesia
Of all the 100 or so islands that make up French Polynesia, the French collectivity in the South Pacific, Tahiti or Bora Bora are two of the most known. But does it make them the best? Not by a long shot! You may have to fly from Papeete to get there, but when you do, there’s a reason you choose Rangiroa. Also known as Te Kok?ta, it’s the largest atoll in the Tuamotu archipelagos and around 350 km northeast of Tahiti. Check out Le Sables Roses, where you’ll find a pink sand beach in an impossibly lovely, and usually deserted, setting! Contrasting with the turquoise seas, it’s an island dream.
St. Vincent and the Grenadines
You know that the Caribbean is a collective of incredibly breathtaking islands, but St. Vincent and the Grenadines is one of the more impressionable collections. The main island St. Vincent and its smaller siblings are the epitome of chic private island life. Yachts and white sandy beaches go hand in hand, so head here if you’re a fan of sailing and sea-life.
